How PowerSmarter Vets Installers (Our Standards)

Our installer vetting process is the foundation of what makes PowerSmarter different. Here's exactly how it works โ€” and why it matters for the quality of the installation you receive.

Step 1: SAA Accreditation Verification

How PowerSmarter Vets Installers (Our Standards) key facts

Every installer in our network must hold current Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accreditation before being onboarded. We verify this directly at saaustralia.com.au โ€” not based on the installer's self-declaration.

SAA accreditation is the prerequisite for CHBP rebate access. An installer without current SAA accreditation cannot claim the CHBP on your behalf. We check this because you rely on it.

Step 2: State Electrical Contractor Licence

We verify the installer holds a valid electrical contractor licence in the state(s) they operate. This is verified with the relevant state authority. An unlicensed contractor's work is potentially uninsured and legally non-compliant.

Step 3: Business Registration

We verify ABN registration and business standing. Sole traders, partnerships, and companies are all eligible โ€” but they must be properly registered. No ABN, no access to our platform.

Step 4: Review Audit

We check Google Reviews and ProductReview scores against minimum thresholds. Installers below threshold are not onboarded. More importantly, we look at how installers respond to negative reviews โ€” a constructive response to a 1-star review tells us more about business culture than the score itself.

Step 5: Complaint Monitoring

We monitor for complaints raised through our platform. When a complaint is raised:

  1. We contact the installer for their response
  2. We facilitate resolution between homeowner and installer
  3. If the complaint is unresolved, the installer is suspended pending investigation
  4. Repeated unresolved complaints result in permanent removal

Ongoing Re-Verification

We don't just check once at onboarding. Accreditation, licensing, and business status are re-verified quarterly. An installer whose SAA accreditation lapses is immediately suspended until it's renewed.

What This Means for You

When you get a quote through PowerSmarter, you're guaranteed:

  • SAA-accredited installer (CHBP eligible)
  • Valid state electrical licence
  • Active ABN and registered business
  • Minimum review rating
  • Complaint history reviewed

You still need to compare quotes and ask good questions โ€” our vetting is a floor, not a ceiling. But it removes the most common risks in the Australian battery installation market.
